I'll check the property for curb appeal / overall looks!
Park and walk the property
Check all the windows, doors, and garages for security
Check for any debris, papers, and circulars that could have blown onto the property.
Check for outside furniture items that might be blown over.
Check storage sheds to be sure closed and secure
Check exterior of home for any obvious signs of storm damage such as siding blowing loose, roof shingles on the ground and so on.
Remove any door hangers, or flyers left at the residence.
Check for any signs of vandalism.
Check for any pest problems I see starting.

Services Inside

Walk the Interior - Check for visible signs of mold or pest infestation.
Check to see if power is on within the home.
Run faucets / flush toilets to insure water is in the traps to prevent any sewer gas leakage.
Check under the faucets in the kitchen / bathrooms for any signs of leaks / pests
Refrigerator / Freezer - Check on the operation if left on.
Hot Water Heater - Check around it for signs of leaks as well as the status. Should it be on or off?
Roof - Check the ceilings in the home for any obvious signs of water stains / leak problems.
Temperature - What do you want the inside kept at? Take a temperature reading of the interior.
Timers - Do you have exterior as well as interior lights on times? I will reset your timers to your settings after power interruptions.
Check residence after it was used by guests for conditions and security.

About Us

My name is John P. Lycke, owner of Lycke Home Service and licensed real estate broker. I was born and raised in Montauk and been involved in the family business, Lycke Home Service, for my entire life. I took over the business when my father retired in 1992 and taken it from a sleepy little family house watch business started in 1964, to a technologically savvy House Watching Company. Over the years I have accumulated a wealth of knowledge regarding the care, maintenance and repair of homes located in what is essentially a harsh marine environment. With such close proximity to the Ocean and Long Island Sound, and such extreme conditions as we frequently experience in winter, I understand extra care must be taken in all phases of house watching.
